The Finstad Baptism

Ready to go!
Final instructions

Christian was also being baptized that day. He's eight years old, but he loves the Lord!

The water apparently was quite warm.

Alicia and friend look on in trepidation. Alicia REALLY wanted to get into the water, and couldn't understand why she couldn't go swimming!

Music before the ceremony (sorry, the pictures are all mixed up)

On a snowy December day in 2008, Betsy and Kris were baptized by Pastor Kirk Weed. Since the church doesn't have an immersion tank, the congregation drove to the Rehab Gym in Williston to witness the ceremony, then back to the church for a potluck. It wasn't the River Jordan, but the baptism was joyful for all that!

Here's the video!

Our Trip South, October 2008

We had a good time at Sarah and Matt's house on the way to Myrtle Beach. Click on the picture to see the web album!
The Hydes House
On the drive to Myrtle Beach, we passed through some interesting country when we got off the beaten track.
Cotton Country

We finally arrived at Myrtle Beach and found our timeshare, which hasn't changed a bit since we first started coming here.  Since it was a beautiful day (70 degrees), we decided to get out on the beach while we could.  We drove up to Ocean Isle and visited with Carolyn and John, then on the drive back, witnessed a spectacular sunset and of course, the manmade spectacle of all the neon on the Kings Highway!

It was pretty cold on Wedneday, so we decided to stay in the car and drive down to Charleston, where we got out and walked around quite a bit.

Whitehill Family Reunion 2008

Whitehill Family Trustees (and spouses)

The Whitehill Look - folded arms

A nice big bunch of Whitehill descendants showed up this year

While the reunion started off on a nice sunny day, it quickly turned to showers, thunderstorms, and yes, HAIL! Almost oblivious to the bad weather, however, the folks inside were chatting up a storm while munching on some of the best potluck ever! By the time the meeting was over, the sun had reappeared and we all went on our way, all the better for knowing a few more of our relatives.

Shelburne Bay

When Sarah and Matt came to visit, we took a walk for old times' sake along Shelburne Bay. Even though it had rained almost every day in the past two weeks, we were able to slog our way down one of the paths that ran along the lake and admire the beauty of nature! Click on Sarah's picture, below, to see the web album.

A Warm Day in July

Having a good time relaxing at G.G's house!
My beautiful kitty -- she's out of place, but sure is cute...
                                         School's out for the summer!
                                          Princess Alicia making her entrance.
                                            Smile, dear daughter!

Vermont History Expo

So we went to the Vermont History Expo on Saturday and I took some video, then ran it through Pinnacle to see what I could come out with. Here it is... it was a gorgeous day, and well worth the trip!

Mr. Baggins the Cat - new to the Breeyear Household

Yesterday I finally decided that I just HAD to have a cat that wouldn't nip me when I tried to pet it, so I took myself off down to the Humane Shelter and bonded with Baggins. It took three trips back before I could actually adopt him--one trip to pick him out, another trip (with Jim) to get his consent, and a third trip to actually pick Mr. B. up and bring him home (with a rabies shot as a sideline on the way).

Moonshine's Very Bad Day

Moonshine is trying to get used to not being the only cat. In this sequence, both cats are sitting in individual windows, then Moonshine gets brave and tries to go to her favorite window even though Baggins is lurking on the pillow beneath. Funny!

Shades of Yesteryear

This is weird--this cat reminds me so much of my first love, Fluffy Lemieux!

It's Spring!!!

Woo hoo, we've got sunshine and the beginnings of buds up here in Vermont! It was one of the longest, coldest, snowiest winters ever, and it sure feels good to stretch it out and enjoy the warmth for a change. I'll post some pictures tomorrow, but for now, I'm just soaking up as much vitamin D as possible!
