Mr. Baggins the Cat - new to the Breeyear Household

Yesterday I finally decided that I just HAD to have a cat that wouldn't nip me when I tried to pet it, so I took myself off down to the Humane Shelter and bonded with Baggins. It took three trips back before I could actually adopt him--one trip to pick him out, another trip (with Jim) to get his consent, and a third trip to actually pick Mr. B. up and bring him home (with a rabies shot as a sideline on the way).

Moonshine's Very Bad Day

Moonshine is trying to get used to not being the only cat. In this sequence, both cats are sitting in individual windows, then Moonshine gets brave and tries to go to her favorite window even though Baggins is lurking on the pillow beneath. Funny!

Shades of Yesteryear

This is weird--this cat reminds me so much of my first love, Fluffy Lemieux!

It's Spring!!!

Woo hoo, we've got sunshine and the beginnings of buds up here in Vermont! It was one of the longest, coldest, snowiest winters ever, and it sure feels good to stretch it out and enjoy the warmth for a change. I'll post some pictures tomorrow, but for now, I'm just soaking up as much vitamin D as possible!

Those squirrels don't have a chance!
Leave me be, willya?
Can you see me? Can you see me now?

February Blahs

Winter set in (again) with a vengeance this week. These pictures were taken early in the morning this week before I had to go out and drive to work. Obviously, Moonie was content to sit in front of the radiator all day, which is where I would rather have been!

Flora and Water

Remember the Alamo!

I never really knew what "Remember the Alamo" meant until I listened to the docent at the real Alamo explain that it referred to remembering the atrocities committed on civilians who defended their women and children from attacks on the fort by Santa Ana and his troops in the early 1800's. Now the place has been turned into a shrine, and the weight of the history that happened there is easily discernable even by an eastern tenderfoot. Here's some pictures of the Alamo and also of the "battlefield" -- the green area in front of the building is all that remains. The rest has been lost to hotels and conference centers.

San Antonio in the Rain

I woke up this morning way too early, still on Eastern time. Even though it was lightly misting, it was still in the 60's so I decided to take a walk to the Mexican marketplace that I've been hearing a lot about, and find out just how far it was. Turns out it's only about a mile from the hotel. I got totally wet going up and back, and of course nothing was open yet (the story of my life), but it was interesting just to walk around and look.

The light was really flat, so the quality of these pictures is not real good.

Arthur with new plants

I went to PetSmart yesterday and bought Arthur some interior decoration. Here he is swimming around, wondering what the heck is going on.
